Choosing the right greenhouse glazing is crucial for optimizing plant growth and energy efficiency. BC Greenhouse Builders offers a range of glazing options, each with distinct advantages in light transmission, insulation, and durability.

SINGLE TEMPERED GLASS

For maximum light exposure, 3mm single tempered glass allows approximately 95% light transmission with an insulating R-value of 0.96. It is tempered for safety and ideal for gardeners who want full sun exposure. A thicker alternative, 6mm single tempered glass, offers a seamless, clear appearance while providing added strength.

DOUBLE TEMPERED GLASS

For improved insulation, 16mm double tempered glass transmits about 90% of light while delivering an R-value of 2.1. This option retains heat efficiently, making it a great choice for gardeners seeking a stable growing environment. An optional Low-E coating can further enhance energy efficiency by reflecting infrared heat back inside.

POLYCABONATE GLAZING

Polycarbonate provides an alternative to glass with excellent durability and insulation. 6mm twinwall polycarbonate, with an R-value of 1.62 and 82% light transmission, is a budget-friendly, virtually unbreakable option. Its ability to diffuse light helps prevent plant scorching and maintains a stable internal temperature. For those in colder climates, 16mm fivewall polycarbonate offers the highest energy efficiency, with an R-value of 3.0 and 62% light transmission. This option reduces heating costs while maintaining an optimal growing environment, making it ideal for year-round use and specialty plant cultivation.

ADDITIONAL GLAZING OPTIONS

These include laminated glass, which remains intact even when broken, making it a safe choice for high-traffic areas, and high-performance Low-E glass, which improves insulation by reflecting infrared heat back into the greenhouse.

All these glazing systems come with a continuous exterior capping system, ensuring an airtight seal for better weather resistance and energy efficiency. Additionally, different glazing types can be combined within the same greenhouse to balance insulation, aesthetics, and budget.
